We kicked off the year with a truly unique experience at the Ackerdijkse Plassen. As our first hike of the year, we wanted something peaceful yet eye-opening, and this "Birdwatch Edition" delivered exactly that.

This area is a protected nature reserve, usually closed to the general public to protect the rare birds that nest here. We were lucky enough to explore the outskirts and learn about the delicate balance of this sanctuary. From spotting birds to learning how to identify them by their song, it was a morning of slowing down and truly connecting with the landscape.

Starting the year in such a serene, protected environment reminded us why we do what we do: to appreciate the quiet beauty of the Dutch outdoors and learn how to protect it.

Did you know?

The Ackerdijkse Plassen is considered one of the most important bird sanctuaries in the Netherlands. It serves as a vital "refuge" for over 100 different species of birds.
